I’m sure you’ve all heard of this by now, but since the point of this site is documentation foremost, we might as well have a post dedicated to it.
In case you haven’t heard, there’s been a bit of a flurry on social media the last couple of weeks because Amazon’s Alexa has, for some unlucky people, been randomly laughing.
The more recent news is that Amazon knows why Alexa is laughing.” Now, according to the New York Times article I linked to, Amazon has realized that Alexa was just mistaking things for the command, “Alexa, laugh.” They’re now going to patch things up.
We live in a cyberpunk future, so the most likely situation is that Alexa simply is becoming sentient. Just kidding, it’s more likely that some engineer at Amazon has a sick sense of humor. Either way, happy Friday!
